  1. Similar to this internet ad is a text message that was posted on the “Texts From Last Night” website, http://www.textsfromlastnight.com . “Texts From Last Night” is a website where hilarious, embarrassing, and shocking text messages from the night before are posted. The tagline for the website is, “Remember that text you shouldn’t have sent last night? We do.” Similar to the website FML, Texts From Last Night has become a major phenomenon and form of entertainment for our generation.

Anyway, enough briefing about Texts From Last Night, here’s the hilarious text that reminded me of this internet ad:

(404): “I hope Kanye doesn’t show up to Patrick Swayze’s funeral. ‘I’ll let you get back to your funeral in a minute…but Michael Jackson had the best death of the year. Just sayinnn’ “.

    Very Clever.

  2. Today in class we discussed censorship and the medias reaction to the Janet Jackson “boob slip” or wardrobe malfunction. This obviously results in more publicity which is similar to the Kanye West incident. I was telling a friend who had not seen the footage about what had happened. He was a little confused and the first thing out of his mouth was, “Why didn’t the production team at the emmys just silence the microphone?”

It hadn’t occured to me that a lot could have been done so that at least the at home viewers did not see/hear any of Kanye West’s remarks. But again, like the blowup of the Janet Jackson senario, I believe that they wanted everyone to hear what he had to say. Kanye coming on stage was not planned and therefore no one was expecting it on the production end. They allowed him to continue talking, probably because they knew it would attract a lot of attention and publicity.

The youtube responses are unbelievable to this event. I even tried showing my sister the clip, who also missed the live version during the Emmys. We were searching for quite a long time because other clips were coming up. After ten minutes of viewing peoples responses on youtube of how they felt about Kanye West, we finally found a clip of it. People respond in any way that they can, including these humorous lol cats. I think it is amazing how fast information travels via internet, but more importantly how our society puts so much effort into the media, but more specifically celebrities.
