I thought this article was pretty interesting http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/11/20/google.os/index.html

Basically Google is trying to create a computer that boots up like a television. Therefore instead of the usually wait from turning on your computer till you can actually start using it, Google is looking at a seven second wait from the second you push the on button. Even further, the article is titled “the end of the hard drive”, basically what they are trying to do is “rely on non-volatile flash memory and Internet-based storage for saving all of your data.” Also all applications will be web based and there will be no need for anti-virus software as well. This is all very neat. Check it out.
