Honda Crosstour sends mixed signals

leave a comment »

On November 20th, Honda released the Crosstour, its latest vehicle. The Crosstour has been modeled as an Accord-size vehicle that is  handier than a sedan (hence its hatchback) and sportier than a mainstream crossover-utility vehicle.

This whole ad-campaign has been confusing to me, and its why I chose to post a blog entry about it here. For so long, Honda has been known for featuring small, affordable cars that are excellent on gas mileage. In the last two years, Honda has also released a number of fuel efficient hybrid vehicles.

Now, with the release of the Crosstour, it seems that Honda settled for a vehicle that will bridge the cap between the Accord and the Pilot, but also compromises some of the contstants (price, stlye and fuel efficiency) that made it such a competitor in the auto industry.  The cheapest AWD Crosstours go for $34,710, nearly $5,500 more expensive than a fully-loaded accord. USA Today’s full review of the vehicle is linked below.
