The Princess and the Frog

I know someone wrote earlier about how the upcoming Disney movie, The Princess and the Frog, was an inspiration in terms of teaching children that good things come to those who work hard, but this article states that there is a reason other than teaching children good work habits that the movie was made this way. This article discusses how the movie is set in 1920’s New Orleans and yet it doesn’t seem to mention or show the tension in this “separate but equal” time. The article also mentions that this movie hints that there was not much more for African Americans at the time to aspire to other than working in the service industry.
Just an interesting look at the different opinions that this movie is sure to stir up.
