Freeman Almighty

This is an article that talks about Morgan Freeman and how over his acting career he has come to embody leadership and power. Freeman has played the president and a number of different authority figures, including God twice, throughout his career. With his upcoming role of Nelson Mandella, people around the world will once again see Freeman portray a powerful figure. So what makes him so good for these roles? The author talks about how he is able to draw in the audience with his calming voice that is also very stern. His has tremendous screen presence because of his height and his face has a great deal of character. Over the years I feel like i have developed a parasocial relationship with Freeman regardless of his role. Since seeing him in “The Shawshank Redemption” I have always viewed Freeman as a figure of wisdom and knowledge, and even in one of his more recent films, “Wanted” in which he ends up being a villan, it is hard not to like him. While I can’t put my finger on it, Morgan Freeman definetly has something about him that embodies power and knowledge, and always will.
