Not Everyone is Happy with MTV’s New Show “Jersey Shore”

leave a comment »

Italian-American interest group Unico National has asked members to boycott advertisers of the new MTV  reality show, which follows a group of Italian-Americans living together in a summer house on the Jersey shore. Andre DiMino, president of the largest Italian-American service organization in the US, recently told the NY Timesthat he found their behavior “reprehensible and demeaning in all respects.I don’t see any redeeming value in the show,” DiMino told the Times. “They are an embarrassment to themselves and to their families.”

Many of the people who are opposing this show are making the argument that the show portrays all Italians as “guidos” who are loud and drink too much. In my opinion I find the show entertaining and I actually know two of the people who appeared on the show. If you are offened by it, don’t watch it. It’s as simple as that and most people do realize that not all Italians are like those who are on the show.
