Banning Bias?

leave a comment »

The Super Bowl is known for its funny and daring commercials. When Go Daddy Group Inc. first aired their commercials, networks got backlash saying that they were too racy and inappropriate for television. Nevertheless, Go Daddy has had some commercials that are just as racy and daring up until this point.

This year the group submitted a different kind of commercial for this year’s Super Bowl. This one did not feature any nearly naked women or overly suggestive themes. It features Danica Patrick covered head to toe and a football player turned fashionista.

The company’s CEO is stunned that this commercial was banned for the “potential to offend a significant amount of people” while other commercials have been aired that had much more potential to be offending.

So, is it safe to say that networks have a banning bias toward some companies that have a racier past? Go Daddy seems to think so.
