Obama’s Health Care Plan

leave a comment »

I was bored just surfing the net looking at the news headlines that are posted on Google News and I came across an article from ABC’s coverage of a speech made by Obama in Pennsylvania where he pushed for Congress to pass his Health Care Reform Plan.  After reading the article it occurred to me that although I am pretty up to date on most issues facing America, and I do read the news and try to stay updated, political bills and plans are something that I have a hard time grasping the information on.  Obama’s health care plan specifically, after reading the article I realized I don’t even know what his plan entails.  I decided to research into it and look for the guidelines of the plan.  After doing this, I thought about how many people probably don’t know about his plan and what he is pushing for.

The guidelines to his plan are as follows:

“It makes insurance more affordable, providing the largest middle class tax cut for health care in history, reducing premium costs.  This helps over 31 million Americans to afford health care, who currently do not have any.

It sets up a new competitive health insurance market, basically giving Americans the same health insurance options as everyone else.

It brings greater accountability to health care, which basically avoids malpractice by insurance companies.

It will end discrimination against Americans with pre-existing conditions.

And it was also begin to put our deficit on a path to breaking even.  It will reduce it by $100 billion over the next ten years..and $1 trillion over the second decade”

The President has set a deadline of March 18 for congress to pass his plan for health care reform.  Lets all try to stay posted.
