ESPN’s Local Brand

ESPN, one of the largest brands in sports media, is growing at a rapid rate.  The release of ESPNChicago.com just over a year ago has branched out to other locally focused sites for regions.  Following Chicago was Boston, Dallas, L.A., and New York.  This article discusses how the pace of digital media development is at a relentless pace and shows know signs of slowing down.  These sport specific sites have compared well to the sites of competing organizations in their respective areas, such as The Boston Globe (boston.com), and the LAtimes.com, and we must not forget that these sites are dedicated to an entire newspaper.

Visitors to the unique ESPN sites are able to pursue information for their beloved teams and follow them closely while narrowing in on an individual region, as opposed to the nation on the father ESPN.com site.
