Dozens Walk Past Dying Hero

Hugo Alfredo Tale-Yax, 31, a homeless Guatemalan immigrant, was stabbed to death several times in the chest while saving a woman from an attacker around 5:40 a.m. April 18th.  After saving the woman, Tale-Yax collapsed at 144th Street and 88th Road in Jamaica, Queens.  Police arrived at the scene at 7:20 a.m. after responding to a 911 call and pronounced the man dead.

Tale-Yax bleed to death while dozens of people walked by on the New York City sidewalk – one man even stopping to take a picture of the dead man on his cell phone.  Video of the incident was captured on a surveillance camera and obtained by the New York Post.  The video was confirmed to be genuine by the New York Police department and shows that plenty of people walked by and did nothing.

With new media technology we are able to take a picture with our telephone at any time.  Maybe, however, we should really stop and think we should use the dial pad first.

The video and an article can be found at the link below.
