Mall Hauls

A new phenomenon has hit the Internet called “Mall Hauls.” Teenagers from all over are going to the malls and then coming home and posting videos sharing their recent purchases. In the same way that girls excitedly chat about the new stuff they just bought amongst a group of friends, now teens are sharing it with the World Wide Web. You might think that no one would care about what a stranger bought at the mall that day, however the Mall Haul videos are gaining a lot of attention. After wasting 8 minutes of my life that I can never get back, I conclude that the videos are mind-numbingly stupid, but the others seem to disagree. Allthatglitters21 and juicystar07 are two sisters, Blair and Elle Fowler, who do Mall Hauls together and post them on their Youtube accounts; a recent video describing their shopping spree at Forever21 received over 1,072,000 views. The girls have a large fan-base and were even on Good Morning America for being renowned Mall Haulers. Is the Mall Haul sensation just a passing fad, or will retail companies continue to reap the benefits of this free publicity?
