Facebook, giving the people what they want
Last night (Saturday) the we were treated to an awesome episode of SNL. after months of campaigning, the good people of Facebook got what they wanted: Betty White host SNL. and boy did she deliver. Betty White has resurfaced in pop culture as of late. though, i dont think she ever lost her appeal (how could you not love the woman who played Rose on Golden Girls!?) but after acclaimed performance in “The Proposal,” people were reminded of the awesome-ness of Betty White.
then the Facebook Group was born. Hundreds of thousands of people joined the group to get Ms. White host SNL, and NBC listened. though she may or may not have Facebook to thanks for her appearance on the show, during he ropening monologue, Betty expressed that she did not know what Facebook was, and one she found out she deemed it “a huge waste of time.” she’s probably right, and she had some great jokes, with great timing. i know I was excited to watch. to add to the excitement of this special episode, SNL brought in some old school, female vets including Molly Shannon, Tina Fey, and Maya Rudolph. happily, they did not overshadow Betty white’s time in the sun, they added to the show for sure!! here is an example of Betty Whites success in this clip of the opening skit:
