The Gaga Effect

leave a comment »

Its no secret that Lady Gaga has avery high influence on society. wherever she goes, a crowd of paparazzi follow, her songs are heard constantly on the radio, and her album is on the top of the iTunes chart. Recently, her video for  the song “Telephone” made waves in the media. It features Beyonce and it is quite  . . .interesting.

Many people say that imitation is the highest form of flattery. well if this is true, Lady Gaga should feel complimented. Hundreds, quite possibly thousands of videos have been made on Facebook and Youtube, attempting to re-create Gaga’s moves. Most recently, one Gaga video imitation has been all the rage in the media world.

This one is rather unexpected. a group of soldiers stationed in Afghanistan decided to put their dancing skills to the test, and display them on the World Wide Web. the result: an extremely entertaining video that speaks for itself. i think its great that our soldiers can do this, because i can’t even imagine what stress they’re under, so this seems like a creative way to take some of the edge off.  Who has the better skills, the soldier or Gaga? I’ll let you decide.
