For me, music is my life. Whether it’s finding a new artist or listening to those who are my favorite, I am all ears for it. There is one artist that I have been very interested in lately. At first, I absolutely hated her. I couldn’t stand her voice, her stupid faces, and most definitely her outfits/wigs, but she grew on me. No, it’s not Lady Gaga, but it is the one and only Nicki Minaj. I’m not writing this to confess my love to the female MC, but more so to discuss how stupid I was for not giving her a chance at first. She has talent and it is definitely shines bright enough to attract fans all over the world.

Nicki Minaj, a 25 year old raised in Queens, is one of the hottest female rappers on the charts today. Being signed to Young Money, the label that was created by rapper Lil Wayne, she has deemed herself more than successful. She’s a female who calls herself ‘Barbie’ and switches her wigs to show her “alter egos”. Despite her obnoxious facial expressions she uses both on stage and in music videos, she has talent.

Not only can she rap, she can sing and she also writes some very impressive lyrics.   She has been nominated and won dozens of awards for her music and being a break out artist. The next think Nicki has on the map is the release of her first full length album called Pink Friday which drops on November 22, 2010. Above is the music video for Check It Out ft, which premiered just a few days ago. Nicki Minaj’s album is one of the most anticipated releases of the fall. Kanye West and Kid Cudi come close for second.
