Roger Ailes Accuses NPR of Practicing Nazism
And so the war between Fox News and NPR continues on… In a recent interview with Howard Kurtz on The Daily Beast, Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes made some far-fetched claims about NPR and Jon Stewart. Reflecting on the tired issue of the firing of Juan Williams, Ailes made claims that NPR executives “are, of course, Nazis.” This, coming from the man who gave a multi-million dollar contract to Juan Williams after he made offensive comments about Muslims… shocking. Ailes also said, “They are the left wing of Nazism. These guys don’t want any other point of view.” So we have Fox News, which is notorious for leaning pretty far to the right versus NPR which tries to take the middle-ground as far as political favoritism goes. Ailes topped off his interview by making a few comments about Jon Stewart, “”He hates conservative thoughts. He hates conservative verbiage. He hates conservatives…he’s crazy. If it wasn’t polarized, he couldn’t make a living. He makes a living by attacking conservatives and stirring up a liberal base against it.” While Stewart does make a living satirizing conservative politics, does Ailes really need to be reminded that his show also appears on Comedy Central. In my opinion, Ailes, instead of handling his interview professionally, made outlandish claims that in the end make him (rather than NPR and Jon Stewart) look a little crazy and are a poor reflection on the Fox News network. In this war of the news sources I am team NPR all the way.
