Actor and comedian, Leslie Nielson, died yesterday, at the age of 84, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida of pneumonia. Leslie Nielson, who started his career in the 50s was known for his dramatic roles in: Forbidden Planet, The Opposite Sex, and Hot Summer Night. He had even played the role of “the bad guy” in several of his films. In 1980, however, he decided to make a change in his career. He would use his deep voice and serious demeanor in a comedic way, which would skyrocket his career as “the funny guy” in the film Airplane! He then went on to make a series of comedies, the most famous are the Naked Gun films, which spoof the police dramas of the time like Police Squad. Over the past few years it has been rumored that a fourth installment to the Naked Gun films would be put into production. Unfortunately with Leslie’s death, this is no longer an option, but the three prior films as well as every film he has been a part of will leave us with big smiles on our faces forever. RIP Leslie.
