Wikileaks Founder Jailed

leave a comment »

Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks, turned himself in to authorities  in Britain yesterday after he had learned that Swedish authorities had put out a warrant for his arrest. Interestingly though, he  is not being arrested for releasing private government documents against the US and several other countries. He was jailed for sexual assault charges on two women back in August 2010.  He was denied bail because of his “nomadic” lifestyle. Assange denies all charges and will have his first hearing next week.  He claims he is worried he will be sent to the US where he could be prosecuted for releasing private documents about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.  An associate from Wikileaks stated that Assange’s arrest won’t have any affect on the website from releasing more documents.
