This past Thursday, a new statistic was released about the amount of active internet users. Eight per cent of internet users are using the social networking site Twitter. The study was done with the Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project. This project studies the spread of technology in the United States over the past ten years. After this study was done, it was shown that the users of Twitter are young adults, minorities, and people who live in cities. Another statistic that was shown is that African-Americans and Latinos are twice as likely to use Twitter as white users. People said that they check Twitter to see people’s new posts and updated status’s through out the day. The researchers focused on Twitter because it is one of the most popular online activities among tech enthusiasts and has become a widely used tool for studies.
