8 Percent of American Internet Users Go to Twitter, Report Says
A study released on Thursday shows that 8 percent of active internet users check and are users of the site Twitter. The study is a small part of Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project which is researching the changes of technology in the United States over a 10 year period. This part of the project was performed in November and people were asked if they use Twitter to update their own statuses or check on other people’s statuses. The 8 percent who do use Twitter on a regular basis were young adults, minorities and people living in cities. People living in suburban areas are two times more likely to use the site than those living in rural areas. They also found that African Americans and Latinos are twice as likely to use the site than whites. Of the 8 percent, 2 percent use Twitter on a daily basis. In general, 74% of adult Americans now use the internet in general. This is a large spring in what used to be lesser. It goes to show that technology spreads much faster now than it ever has before. Twitter is a fairly new concept and already has taken over the internet and is sure to be a fad that will be around for a long time.
