Amar’e Stoudemire vs Steve Nash

leave a comment »

Once Amar’e Stoudemire signed with the Knicks everyone started wondering, “Will Amar’e still be good without Steve Nash?” The overwhelming answer was, “No Way.” Everyone said Nash made Amar’e who he is and he would be just a average big man without him. The Knicks are now 25 games into the season and hold a 16-9 record, good for 5th in the Eastern Conference; while the Suns, are 11-12, good for 9th in the Western Conference, one spot away from the playoffs. The Knicks won 13 or their last 14 games and Amar’e scored 30 points in 8 straight games. So I ask you, is it Amar’e who supposedly produce without Nash or is it the Suns who cannot win without Amar’e.

I would say the Suns needed Amar’e and his worth was underappreciated by the Suns, actually by the whole league. Everyone thought the Knicks were crazy to give Amar’e that contract but whose crazy now? Amar’e is a top 3 MVP candidate and is basically carrying the Knicks on his back. He is third in the league at scoring right behind superstars Kobe Bryand, and Kevin Durant. The Knicks are looking real good while the Suns are looking pedestrian. I would say that everyone got it wrong when they said Amar’e needed Nash. He is having the best season of his long NBA career and proving people that he should be considered one of the best big men in the NBA today. Sure he doest play the best defense but does it really matter how good his defense is when hes putting up 30 points a game every night…I believe not.
