Mark Zuckerberg Named Person Of The Year

leave a comment »

As we come to a close on 2010, Time Magazine has named its person of the year. Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook, has received this coveted name. Zuckerberg created Facebook in 2004 at the age of 19. At the time, he was a sophomore at Harvard University. Have any of you created a website that is home to more than 500 million members? Without Facebook, we would have not had such an online social interaction as we are able to have today. One out of every 12 people on Earth have Facebook and almost half of all Americans have one. Zuckerberg has made six billion dollars from the website. Zuckerberg had an idea that catered to the generation that grew up with the internet. Most of his staff are not over the age of 30 years old.

Today, Facebook is something almost all of us have a profile on. It replaced Myspace for all of us in terms of social networking. It seems strange when someone we meet doesn’t have a Facebook. Facebook is a great way for us to connect and share many different things. It only seems fair that Zuckerberg is named Person of the Year, six years after he got the idea for the website.
