I found these pictures while I was searching my friend’s links on Facebook. I was shocked at the beauty, innocence, experience and wonder of these 47 pictures. As I thought about the stories these pictures might be able to tell, I realized something extraordinary.

If the internet had never been invented, the people of the world would never have been able to see the pictures that could have been runners up in the National Geographic photo contest. Also, if there was no internet, only those people who subscribe to National Geographic would be able to see these beautiful photographs.

I have always marveled at the power of pictures, and the power of these is astounding. I was, for the first time ever, truly thankful for the internet being able to inspire something more than just a simple feeling of happiness.
