Go Red at Macy’s

I have been researching the American Heart Association campaingn for a while ever since I watched a show that featured one of the spokespeople for the Go Red campaign. The Go Red campaign is meant to promote awareness of heart disease, the number one killer of women in America. February is heart disease awareness month and I have been noticing that major companies like Macy’s have been promoting the Go Red campaign. I think this is important because it shows how major companies affiliate themselves with certain charities and thus attract more people towards their company. Affiliation with such charities is advertised, not only in television commercials, but also throughout the internet., like this link shows. I chose to share this article because I thought it relates to advertising and the adverse effects that the media has. This is espeically true since Macy’s is giving discounts for people who wear red when they make their purchses or people who donate to the charity. People will be more willing to donate and go to Macy’s wearing red so that they get a disount , which is beneficial to both promoting awareness of the American Heart Association and promoting Macy’s affiliation with the Go Red campaign.
