NYK are as sweet as Carmelo

The most popular headline in recent sports news has been the trade of Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks from the Denver Nuggets. This article posted on ESPN.com talks about all of the hype surrounding and leading up to the trade. To acquire Anthony, the Knicks had to trade four players, a future first-round draft selection, two future second-round draft selections, cash, and future draft considerations.

Many people are saying that the Knicks gave up too much to get Anthony. I disagree. The Knicks already have Amare Stoudemire, who averages 26.1 points per game, so when you bring in Carmelo Anthony, who averages 25.2 points per game, the Knicks will be unstoppable. They have not been to the playoffs since 2004 and by adding an array of basketball superstars to their roster they are sure to travel to at least the playoffs, if not the championship.

He recently tweeted, “Wow, just had the craziest 12 hours of my career. So much to say, but really want to thank all my fans and friends for their support!” As hard of a decision as it must have been, the trade is a smart move for Carmelo and his wife, Lala. She tweeted, “I wanna thank the city of Denver 4having us for almost 8 wonderful seasons. I wish the team, city & fans the best. Thank u for being awesome.” Not only are the two happy, but they are thankful for where they came and where they are headed, not only for Carmelo’s career but for their family.

Recently, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh all signed with the Miami Heat and the same assumptions are being made about the Heat as well as the Knicks; that a championship is in the near future. The two teams meet Saturday, February 26, a great game, definitely not to be missed.
