Royal Rant

[[WARNING: This blog post may seem more like a rant so I will apologize in advance to all of those who are avid fans of celebrity news.]]

So as the world knows the other morning Prince William and Kate Middleton got married. Good for them. People get married every day. I don’t think there is a need for everyone to be freaking out about this wedding. There was definitely no need for a countdown on channels like TLC or other superfluous promoting schemes. Some trending topics on Twitter in the UNITED STATES were: #RoyalWedding, #proudtobebritish, William & Kate, THEY KISSED, Buckingham Palace, and at the bottom of the list is Alabama. For those people whom are too consumed watching E! News; Alabama is trending because a series of massive storms swept the South, triggering an onslaught of dozens of tornadoes and nearly 300 people have been killed across six states. People have become so consumed in the lives of celebrities they aren’t even aware of the own devastation happening in their own country. I personally don’t think the British royal family is worthy of the para-social relationships people are forming with them. It’s not like Prince William worked hard to become well known, he was simply born.  There are so many other events and people who deserve recognition but in today’s society gossip is what thrives, and personally I find that sad. So congratulations to Harry & Kate and may they have a happy life that I’m sure I’ll be hearing about.
